The Castle Arch Hotel is located in Meath, known as the Royal County of Ireland. The area is steeped in history from the passage tombs at Newgrange, Dowth and Knowth to the Hill of Tara and Bective Abbey. Trim Castle, started by Hugh de Lacy in 1173, has many unusual features including a cruciform design of Keep and Barbican Gate. The castle, also known as King John’s Castle, was used at the set for the film ‘Braveheart’ starring Mel Gibson in 1994.
